Pets are family members, and we treat them as such. We aim to create a pleasant refuge for our clients while also offering informed guidance and instruction on our animal hospital, as well as the finest medical treatment possible for our patients.
DR. KATIE HONG
Veterinarian
I received my veterinary degree from Seoul National University, South Korea, in 2005 and started working as a small animal practitioner. I moved to Wooster in 2006 when my husband, also a veterinarian, got a research position at the OARDC. As we settled in Wooster and started a family here, I wanted to continue pursuing my dream carrier. So, I completed the ECFVG program and obtained my Ohio Veterinary License in 2012. Since then, I’ve been enjoying practicing veterinary medicine in Ohio and joined the Ark team in August of 2021. I enjoy all parts of veterinary medicine, but I have a particular interest in preventive medicine and dermatology. My husband and I live with 2 amazing teenagers, 2 dogs (Tank, and Vanilla), and 3 cats (Whiskers, Ash, and Stark). When I am away from the work, I enjoy spending time with family, playing tennis, hiking, and gardening.
DR. KRISTEN WELLERT
Veterinarian, Medical Director
Born and raised in upstate New York, I never imagined that I would be living in Ohio, but I could not be happier that this is where life has taken me! I met my husband Shaun in veterinary school at The Ohio State University in 2007, and we now live on the family dairy farm in West Salem with our two boys. My boys are my pride and joy, and I could not imagine life without their smiles. When I am not at the clinic, you can find me spending time with my family, playing sports and board games, or having a dance party like no one is watching. We recently lost our dog, Fred, after 17 years, but we are still getting our snuggles from our cats Bob, Doug, and Stewart.
When I am at the clinic, I enjoy all parts of my work; however, I have particular interests in dentistry and internal medicine. The most rewarding part of my job is my relationships with my clients, my patients, and my team members here at the Ark.
I am a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), OVMA (Ohio Veterinary Medical Association), and AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners).
I look forward to meeting you and your furry friends either here at the clinic or out in the community that I have grown to love so dearly.
Dr. Amy Suttle
Veterinarian
I was born and raised in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and then attended The Ohio State University for undergraduate school and a doctorate in veterinary medicine. After school, I moved to Northeast Ohio for my husband, who is originally from Wayne County. We currently live with two ornery pugs, an independent cat, and 2 wonderful children. I enjoy all parts of veterinary medicine but have a particular interest in dentistry and giving kittens and puppies the best start we can for a healthy life with good preventative care and behavior plans. Outside of the office, I spend my free time with my family, running, reading, and traveling. I’ve worked in the veterinary profession since 2004 and started at the Ark in 2012. I am a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), OVMA (Ohio Veterinary Medical Association), and AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners).

I graduated from Triway High School and have lived in Wooster my entire life. Animals have always been my true love. I worked at Wayne County Humane Society while in high school and have worked as a veterinary assistant for over 30 years, joining the Ark health care team in 2004.
I have 3 Dachshunds (2 long hair, one smooth) and two cats. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and watching movies. Recently, I started working with Therapy Dogs Inc and Pet Pals, where I help teach bite prevention to young children and do hospital and nursing home visitations with my pets.

I have always had a passion for helping animals. Basically from the time I could walk I was rescuing wild creatures in need and tending to our domestic pets at home. I grew up in Orrville and have lived there ever since. I have the best son in the world, he is the coolest 13-year-old ever and together we have six dogs of our own, Sophie and Caesar our Great Pyrenees pair, Luna and Piper our mutt twins, our Great Dane named Baelfire and our little bichon mix Marley. I absolutely love working here at the Ark and have been here for 5 years now. Every day is filled with new challenges, lots of laughs, tears, and a good amount of fun.

Rachel
Client Care Coordinator
I grew up and graduated in Wyoming before moving to Ohio for a short period. I moved to Michigan for seven years for school in nursing; it was great, but I didn’t feel passionate about it. I worked as a massage therapist for five years, served as a wildlife rehabilitator for a songbird rescue for four years, and worked with various rescues as a foster. I loved Michigan, but my heart belonged in Ohio, where my parents had grown up, and much of my extended family resides. I loved working with animals and wanted to do more so I joined the veterinary field. I am also a kitten foster and specialize in special needs care. I have a house full of Critters including my 2 standard poodles Maddie and Pancake; 3 cats Oogie Boogie, Violence, and Vengeance; a hedgehog, a snake, and many lizards. In my spare time, I enjoy crafting, welding, writing, and movies. I have been in the veterinary field for 5 years and have enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to meeting you and helping your fur babies soon!
Andrea
Kennel Manager
I have been working at the Ark Veterinary Hospital for eight years. I love dogs so much that I have 6 of them at home. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies in 2011. I take great pride in my accomplishments and continue to advocate for prison system reform.
In my spare time, I like to relax and read books on world travel or hang out with my daughter.
I have always loved the outdoors and maintain several different plants throughout my home and yard. I hope to travel the world and participate in world poverty relief missions in the future.
Shayla
Client Care Coordinator
I’m originally from North Dakota, born and raised. I moved to Ohio in September 2021 and started working at the Ark right away. I miss home but it sure is beautiful here! I have two dogs (Hazel and Chicken Nugget), a cat(Noodle), two cows(Lucy and Ethel), and two horses(Cash and Hank.) My cows are very unique, they love to cuddle and eat bananas. I’ve even tried teaching Lucy how to be ridden like a horse with a saddle. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my horses and do some trail riding or taking long uninterrupted naps.
Mandy
Veterinary Assistant
I’m from Medina County, I graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 2000. I was a stay-at-home mom for my daughter Emily, who is 18 years old now. As she got older, I decided to go to college and start my career. I graduated from Stautzenberger in 2019 with my Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, specifically animal welfare management. I came to Ark in December 2021 after working at a smaller clinic. I wanted to broaden my knowledge and skills at a larger clinic. My experience at Ark has been amazing! I’m known as the treat lady and treat all pets as if they are my own. It’s important to me that pets have a good visit so they don’t get stressed or have anxiety. I love building relationships with clients and their pets.
I currently reside in Lodi with my boyfriend, who also works in vet care. We currently have three Yorkie mix dogs and three cats, one of them being a one-eyed sphinx. I foster pets with medical needs and bottle babies. I enjoy spending time with my family and going to different fairs and festivals. I also love any and all things Halloween and horror.
Amanda
Registered Veterinary Technician
I am a 2008 graduate of Norton High School. I have always had a passion for animals and knew from a young age that I wanted a career working with them. My educational path originally took me to the University of Findlay right after graduation, where I completed my Bachelor’s in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, and Biology in 2012. During my time there, I decided to switch directions a little bit and pursue my Bachelor’s in Veterinary Technology next. I graduated from Stautzenberger College in 2014. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2012, having my RVT license since 2014. I truly enjoy the work I do, the clients I have formed long-lasting relationships with, and their pets that I will forever hold in my heart.
At home, we have a full house of our beloved cats and dogs. Most of our dogs are Great Danes, a breed I have an undying passion for. They always keep us moving and on our toes, but their personalities never cease to keep a smile on our faces. I enjoy spending my spare time with my husband and adorable toddler. We like to find fairs/festivals, parks, and indoor playgrounds to spend our time together, but also have no issues snuggling up on the couch with the dogs and watching a movie.
