Get to know our veterinary team!
Pets are family members, and we treat them as such. We aim to create a pleasant refuge for our clients while also offering informed guidance and instruction on our animal hospital, as well as the finest medical treatment possible for our patients.
DR. KRISTEN WELLERT
Veterinarian, Medical Director
Born and raised in upstate New York, I never imagined that I would be living in Ohio, but I could not be happier that this is where life has taken me! I met my husband Shaun in veterinary school at The Ohio State University in 2007, and we now live on the family dairy farm in West Salem. I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying the farm life! I have two wonderful boys; Xander, a very energetic toddler, and his little brother Ollie, born in May of 2015. My boys are my pride and joy, and I could not imagine life without their smiles. When I am not at the clinic, you bet you can find me spending time with my family, most likely outdoors, going for a walk, or playing in the sandbox. Not far behind would be our dog Fred and our cats Bob and Doug. When I am at the clinic, I enjoy all parts of my work; however, I have particular interests in dentistry and internal medicine. The most rewarding part of my job is my relationships with my clients and my patients.
Dr. Amy Suttle
I was born and raised in Martins Ferry, Ohio. After graduating high school, I attended The Ohio State University, majored in zoology, and minored in business. I then continued to receive a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at OSU.
After school, I moved to Northeast Ohio for my husband, who is originally from Wayne County. We currently have Oscar, our Pug, and Ernie, our French Bulldog, at home. I enjoy all parts of veterinary medicine in the office but have a particular interest in dentistry and giving kittens/puppies the best start we can for a healthy life with good preventative care and behavior plans. Outside of the office, I spend my free time with my husband and dogs running, reading, watching/playing sports, and traveling.
I’ve worked in the veterinary profession since 2003 and started at the Ark in July 2012.
I graduated from Triway High School and have lived in Wooster my entire life. Animals have always been my true love. I worked at Wayne County Humane Society while in high school and have worked as a veterinary assistant for over 30 years, joining the Ark health care team in 2004.
I have 3 Dachshunds (2 long hair, one smooth) and two cats. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and watching movies. Recently, I started working with Therapy Dogs Inc and Pet Pals, where I help teach bite prevention to young children and do hospital and nursing home visitations with my pets.
I have been a member of the health care team at Ark Veterinary Hospital since 2000. In addition to graduating from Berea High School, I attended Polaris Vocational and Ohio State University. Tiger, my cat, and Touche’, my 30-year old turtle, live with me in Jeromesville. I enjoy relaxing and having fun with family and friends. I also enjoy fishing, 4-wheeling, Volkswagens, and sled riding.
Registered Veterinary Technician
I am a graduate of Norwayne High School and the University of Toledo with a degree in biology, as well as a Cuyahoga Community College graduate with a degree in veterinary technology. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2004, and have had experience with animals from a very young age with my own household pets and from working on a variety of relatives’ farms – from hogs and horses to dairy and beef cattle.
When not working at the Ark I enjoy outdoor activities, especially hiking and camping. I am a triathlete who likes to participate in competitions around the area, and I can’t forget my loveable pooches who get walked more than regularly!
Registered Veterinary Technician
I am a 2008 graduate of Norwayne High School. I furthered my education at the Vet Tech Institute at Bradford School, where I received my degree as a Registered Veterinary Technician. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2010. My fiancé Andrew and I have four furry kids: three cats named Patches, Annabelle, and Manfred, and one adorable mutt named Roxy.
I enjoy reading, crafting, and spending time with family and friends in my spare time. I am a recent addition to the health care team at Ark Veterinary Hospital, and I look forward to caring for your pets.
Veterinary Assistant/Client Care Coordinator
Hello! My name is Laura, and I joined the Ark team in March 2015 and I couldn’t be happier! I’m from Massillon, Ohio, and graduated from Washington High School in 2003. I’ve always had a passion for animals and would bend over backward to save a fur baby. I’ve worked in the veterinary field for nine years. I now live in the little town of Apple Creek with my boyfriend and our 3-year old little girl. We have 3 fur babies, our dogs, Matthew and Fisher, and our cat, Percy. I enjoy watching softball games, going on walks with my family, boating, fishing, and camping in my spare time.
I look forward to caring for your pet!
I am a 2014 graduate of Northwestern High School, and I graduated from Walsh University in 2018 with a degree in biology pre-medicine. However, while attending college, I started working as a veterinary assistant and realized that working with animals was what I am genuinely passionate about, and I am now applying to veterinary colleges to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I have two sweet beagles, Andy and Grace, a polydactyl cat named Nemo, and my most recent addition to my household is a tripod cat named Tiny, whom I met my first day at Ark Veterinary Hospital. I enjoy spending my free time watching the Cleveland Indians, traveling, spending time outside, and hanging out with my friends and family.
I was born and raised in Orrville, Ohio, and I graduated from Orrville High School and the Wayne County Schools Career Center in 2010. I attended Brown Mackie College and completed my associate degree in veterinary technology in 2014. While in college, I did an internship here at the Ark and knew at that point I wanted to work here indefinitely. I have always had a passion for helping animals and always knew I would work in the veterinary field from a very young age. I have a wonderful son named Owen, a supportive fiancé named Micah, and together we have 2 Great Pyrenees, Sophie and Caesar, and two cats, Chloe and Falcon.
Client Care Coordinator
I grew up and graduated in Wyoming before moving to Ohio for a short period. I moved to Michigan for seven years for school in nursing; it was great, but I didn’t feel passionate about it. I worked as a massage therapist for five years, served as a wildlife rehab volunteer for a songbird rescue for four years, and worked with rescues as a foster. I loved working with animals and wanted to do more. I loved Michigan, but my heart belonged in Ohio, where my parents had grown up, and much of my extended family resides. In my spare time, I enjoy crafting, welding, puzzles, and gardening.
My favorite pastime is spending time at our family farm with my Standard Poodle, Maddie. I have been in the veterinary field for a year and have enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to meeting you and helping your fur babies soon!
Client Care Coordinator
Hi there, my name is Selena, and I am a Client Care Coordinator here at the Ark Veterinary Hospital. I originally graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theater and dance from The College of Wooster but have worked in the veterinary field for roughly ten years. I have a wonderful husband, three exceptional children, and one fantastic stepson. But enough about my two-legged family, let me tell you about my four-legged family! I have Ollie, a majestic Pug; Baby, a spunky senior Lab; and Dya, my (I have no idea what she is) puppy. I am excited to be part of such a fantastic team and cannot wait to meet all of you!
I have been working at the Ark Veterinary Hospital for eight years. I love dogs so much that I have 6 of them at home. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies in 2011. I take great pride in my accomplishments and continue to advocate for prison system reform.
In my spare time, I like to relax and read books on world travel or hang out with my daughter.
I have always loved the outdoors and maintain several different plants throughout my home and yard. I hope to travel the world and participate in world poverty relief missions in the future.
